Forty percent of children under 5 years old in Colombia experience violence at home. Evidence shows that physical punishment in the early years of life can have negative consequences on physical and mental health, learning, and socioeconomic conditions throughout life.
For this reason, we develop programs and tools that accompany mothers, fathers, and caregivers in the identification and application of parenting alternatives based on care, respect, and sensitivity.

Thirty percent of women between the ages of 15 and 49 in Colombia have experienced violence by their partner. In addition, women perform on average 4.5 more hours of unpaid care work per day than men. Given that their participation in paid work is similar, this translates into a total overload of approximately 3.5 additional hours per day.
We believe it is fundamental to promote greater participation of men in parenting. Therefore, we work on solutions that promote loving, co-responsible, and violence-free relationships in the home.

In crisis contexts, families face a constant tension between surviving and continuing to care. Research by UNICEF, Parenting for Lifelong Health (PLH), and other allies has shown that extreme stress increases the risk of violence and affects the emotional well-being of girls and boys.
At Fundación Apapacho, we develop tools and accompany caregivers, teachers, community leaders, and organizations working on the front lines, strengthening their capacities to protect and sustain child well-being in these contexts.

Evidence shows that environmental conditions, such as rising temperatures, droughts, and forest fires, directly impact parenting dynamics and family well-being.
From an understanding of natural ecosystems as part of the bioecological model of human development, we work to promote both the healthy development of girls and boys and an environmentally sustainable future.
